How To Gatsby

While waiting for the Fall Jazz Age Lawn Party on Governors Island, New York, if you have the chance to be on the West Coast this weekend, you can't miss another great event for all the 20s/30s lovers: this sunday, September 13th, the Art Deco Society of California will host its 25th Annual Gatsby Summer Afternoon at the historic Dunsmuir House in Oakland California.

From 1-6PM the panoramic Dunsmuir front lawn becomes a stage on which all participants picnic, dance and sip champagne, reminiscent of a scene from The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald's famous novel of 1925.

Lot of fun for sure: The Great Gatsby Bathing Beauty Revue by the Deco Belles, including the crowning of the new Miss Art Deco; a Fashion Parade at which you can show off your sense of style and prizes for best auto, fashions, dance contestants.
Many guests bring period-perfect picnics, with settings from elaborate spreads, complete with silver, crystal, linens and china, to simple wicker baskets on vintage print tablecloths.

Afternoon attire from 1920-1940 is required and if you need some hints, just take a look at the site where you can find a detailed overwiev and shopping guides for ladies and gents.

I want to attend a day like this so incredibly much! Why can't there be anything like this up here on my side of the 49th? Canada really needs more organized vintage fashion based events! :)

Wishing you a gorgeous Wednesday, hon!
