I hope my American readers had a great Thanksgiving and are now having some good days of shopping...Black Friday, Cyber Monday...you know!

During the last weeks I received an award and a tag from three marvellous ladies - Jessica, Tiz and Poke Salad Annie - so I definitely have to do it!

Too Cold And Music Tag

This week here is damn cold! It seems we have totally skipped fall in favor of a breezy unespected winter which is not a good thing for me...hence the slow down in blogging...sorry!

Right now that I need something that make me smile, the lovely Meaghan, my favorite road tripper ever, decided to give me this adorable award below that come with a nice music tag. Thanks Meaghan!!

I'm very flattered and determined to be a good girl: I'm bad when I have to reply to tags, but things go slightly better when it's a "musical one", even if it takes me long time!

By the way, here are the rules:
1. You have to post a song that makes you happy.
2. You can tag as many people as you want, there is no limit.
3. Say at least one thing about each blog you tag, that will make them smile, something nice about their blog that makes you smile when you read it!

I thought I'll post the two songs that most of all make me happy at the moment:

Those Danging Days by...Those Dancing Days!

and Let's Go Surfing by The Drums

and I'll pass the award/tag to two of my favorite italian bloggers, my friend Tiz - which I met in real life only last summer, but immediately became a good friend and my partner in crime, as we both share a true passion for vintage - and Miss L'Armadio del Delitto, definitely one the most inventive and smart blogger I know :-)

Tags and Awards

Tags. I'm really bad with this kind of things! Lately I was tagged two times and I also received an award from two lovely ladies, Polly Farthing and Poke Salad Annie.

The first tag was about listing six things that make me happy, the second one about listing 10 things you don't [and might not want to] know about me.
I feel a bit guilty, but I think I'll break the rules a little (as per usual...) and list just three things "of each kind".

So, the odd numbers are things that I love/make me happy, the even numbers are for things you don't know about me...

1.
This picture, surely my favorite, of Anna Karina and Jean Luc Godard:

2.
My favorite english word is "dandelion", followed by "knickers".

3.
This city:

Photo: Scott Schuman.

4.
My grand-grandfather had six siblings and three of them moved to US at the beginning of 20th century. At today, I know I have some long lost cousins in Rochester, NY.

5.
This video/song, cause melancholy could be a nice feeling and Kermit is a genius:

6.
There are four people with my same name on Facebook.

My Soundtrack

Today L'Armadio del Delitto challenged me with a fun tag: I have to choose my personal soundtrack! I don't post about music often, so, breaking the rules a little - I should list songs for specific categories like "songs for a blue mood", "favorite movie soundtrack" etc. - I thought to look back in memories and create a personal playlist...Don't ask where's the line with this: it's just me!

Click on the titles to listen to each song :-)

Sunday Girl - Blondie
Cause it's my theme song!

No Need To Argue - The Cranberries
Cause it's my fave song from the first album I've ever bought. It was 1994...

Possibly Maybe - Bjork
Cause from 1995 to 1997 this has been a must. And I still like it!

E ti vengo a cercare - CSI
The only italian song in this list... Actually a cover from Franco Battiato . Perfect, perfect song. Reminds me of the first concert I've ever been to (1996. Since then, I've seen them live other six times...) and of a bunch of other memories related to the band ...

Monochrome - Yann Tiersen
Cause this reminds me of a journey to France in March 1999. Long before Amelie and Yann Tiersen was still almost unknown.

Venus As A Boy - Bjork
June 1999 AND May 2000. The mood was flirty. Extremely flirty...listen to the lyrics! The song is an evergreen of mine, btw ;-)

American Dreaming - Dead Can Dance
November 2001. A class with Straub-Huillet . Intense. Listened to this every day, obsessively.

Bluebeard - Cocteau Twins
Cause even if I know the answer, I still wondering if He's "safe" or "toxic for me" ...

The Star of Tracks and Field - Belle&Sebastian
First song of B&S I've ever heard. Late 2001. Reminds me of a dear friend I can't meet often now...

Ecris Moi - Tetes Raides
Cause it makes me happy and reminds me of those summer evening spent with friends, in Bologna, during my Uni years. We all live in different places now and those evenings seems to be so far in time.

Hope There's Someone - Antony and the Johnsons
Listen to this the day I left for New York in 1997.

True Affection - The Blow
Cause I've always thought the lyrics are extremely good here.

One April Day - Stephin Merritt
From Pieces of April soundtrack. Beside the fact I think his voice is the sexiest ever, the song is an amazing little jewel that makes me happy and sad at the same time... Watch the movie!!

Ok...here I am! And now, passing the tag, I'd love to hear about their personal soundtrack from:

Sally Jane
Poke Salad Annie
Betsy
Pink Bow
Greetz From Tiz
The Clothes Horse
Gennie

Health, Beauty And Awards

I'm recovering from a little laser surgery treatment, nothing major just an 80% cosmetic - 20% clinic thing and while I hope for a quick resolution and a "cute" scar on my shoulder, I'm spoiling myself with hours on the internet searching for new ideas for blog posts, fashion magazines and all sort of comfort food!

Today I received a gifts I was waiting for and a fantastic award from the lovely Mothersvea.

The gift is the Oral-B Professional Care Rechargeable Power Toothbrush , which is indeed really professional with all those brushheads and cleaners, the 2 minutes timer (this gives me anxiety, but luckily you could disactivate it!) and the pressure sensor which I'm loving cause I just discovered that I tend to be a "wild brusher" sometimes! I probably won't be able to use a manual toothbrush anymore, cause this one is definitely changing my dental perspectives!

Mothersvea actually awarded me last week, but as per usual I'm a little late in posting these things...sorry!

Isn't this pretty?

By the way here are the rules:

♥ Put logo on your blog or post.

♥ Nominate 10 blogs which you think are fabulous.

♥ Be sure to link to your nominees within your post.

♥ Let them know that they have received this award by commenting on their blog.

♥ Share the love and link to this post and to the person from whom you received your award.

I'll pass it to:

MouseVox Vintage
Fashion Forestry
Flying Saucer
Sally Jane
The Apathist
Vain and Vapid
Zanita
Ambroisine
Fatal Attraction 2 Fashion
Wish Wish Wish

Thank you, you really make my day :-)

Seven Pieces Of Me

I was tagged by the lovely Mothersvea and even though you probably don't need to know seven unimportant things about me, I'm happy to play!

This is how it works:
- You have to link to the person who tagged you
- You have to write 7 things about yourself (both wierd and normal stuff)
- You have to tag 7 people and link to them in the end of the post and you have to leave a comment on their blog.

1. I went to dance classes for years when I was a child. Funnily enough, now I hate to dance!

2. One of my essays was selected for a film critic prize. It was about The Virgin Suicides and the title was "I Want To Be A Goddess".

3. I have a really powerful memory for past things...I can easily remember adresses and old phone numbers even after years.

4. I can't drive and public transportation are my anchor. Public transportation and my feet, of course.

5. I write using the right hand but I'm left handed for cutting and a lot of other things.

6. Though I've actually forgotten a lot, when I was 17 I started learning Japanese...

7. I think Stephin Merritt (The Magnetic Fields) has the sexiest voice ever...

Probably a lot of you have already been tagged so I decided to not pass this along, but you'd like to play considered yourself tagged by me :-)

PS: Wow, thank you for all the comments on the lace earrings tutorial below! More DIY things coming soon ;-)
